Sam T: Basketball Star at the Gary Bird All Abilities Tournament

Our recent adventure to the Gary Bird All Abilities Tournament at the Horsham Basketball Stadium was nothing short of exhilarating. The team set off on a special bus trip, joined by 7 other participants, to compete in this round-robin event. The competition included two teams from Horsham and Bacchus Marsh, making for a day filled with spirited basketball action.

Although the team didn’t come away with a win, they certainly captured the spirit of the tournament with their outstanding sportsmanship and lively performance. Their enthusiasm and positivity earned them recognition as the most entertaining team of the day. The organisers provided a delicious BBQ lunch, adding a tasty highlight to the event before everyone boarded the bus for the journey back.

A special shout-out goes to Sam T, who shone brightly throughout the tournament. Sam’s performance and dedication were truly standout, making a significant impact on the team’s overall success. The tournament was named in honour of Gary Bird, the father of one of the organisers, who was a pioneer in establishing the first all-abilities team in Horsham. The event was a heartfelt tribute to his legacy and dedication to fostering inclusive sports.

A big thank you to everyone who participated and supported the team. The day was a testament to the power of community, sportsmanship, and shared joy. We look forward to more events like this and continuing to celebrate such meaningful experiences.
